Calculating how environmentally friendly food products are can be a difficult task – food producers are obliged to publish very little or no details on the carbon efficiency of their foods or their production methods. These numbers can therefore be very hard to get hold off

At Green Zeal we are working to find the information required to help you understand the products which are doing the least harm to the Planet. Our calculations are based at looking at four parts of the food-supply process:

1. Production and Cooking of the Foods
2. Preservation Process (the freeze-drying for example)
3. Packaging of the foods
4. Transportation of the foods

Each category has a different weighting and we score each product based on the data we can persuade the ration pack suppliers to provide. We will continuously update our calculations as we find more information and review more products on our website
